Chat Sports’ YouTube broadcast announced each selection before ESPN’s cable broadcast

November 19, 2020: Dallas, TX — The 2020 NBA Draft was held last night for the first time ever after the month of June, and while sports TV ratings have been significantly down in 2020, Chat Sports’ live NBA Draft broadcast on YouTube was watched by a record 1.3 million viewers. Chat Sports, the live and on-demand sports video news network, was second only to ESPN’s cable broadcast in total audience, and was the most-watched broadcast of the NBA Draft on YouTube for the third consecutive year. In 2018 and 2019, Chat Sports’ attracted 692,000 and 712,000 live viewers for the NBA Draft.

Chat Sports’ Tom Downey and Jimmy Crowther hosted the 6-hour broadcast which featured an interactive experience for the viewer. The unique format allowed the audience to engage with the hosts through live Q&A, polls, and the company’s popular ‘super chat’ menu.

By announcing picks before cable TV, providing instant analysis, and an instant-reaction grade of each selection in both Round 1 and Round 2, the broadcast attracted 95,000 concurrent viewers, over 14,000 comments per minutes in YouTube’s live chat, and over 10,000 new Subscribers to the Chat Sports YouTube channel — all records for the company.
