Chat Sports Launches on Android

Fast-Growing Startup Extends Tech-Powered News and Scores Offering to Android

--

SAN FRANCISCO, January 21, 2016 — Chat Sports announced the release of its first Android app last night, available for download in Google Play. One of the fastest growing mobile sports properties, the company announced the launch at the Minds Behind the Game: Brand & Technology Partners of Super Bowl 50 event, presented in partnership with the Super Bowl 50 Host Committee. Complementing its web and iOS products, the Chat Sports Android app rounds out the brand’s product offering for the mobile generation. With its smart newsfeed, Chat Sports is the first sports app to use advanced content technology to curate a comprehensive newsfeed from over 2,000 sources.

With this launch, Chat Sports debuts “EXPLORE”: an in-app destination that centralizes the world of sports. EXPLORE facilitates interactive discovery of trending topics through friends’ activity, top headlines, and the viral stories dominating social media. Polls complete the interactive experience.

Built natively for Android, users can still expect a personalized newsfeed filtered for the teams and users they follow. Live scores and stats are a swipe away, featuring detailed stats and live play-by-play for up to six games on a single screen — the only app that makes that available.

Push notifications to breaking news complement the app to keep fans informed on-the-go.

“We are thrilled to bring a better mobile sports experience to the Android users that have waited so patiently,” commented Chat Sports CEO James Yoder. “We have successfully replaced the man power of a comprehensive 24/7 newsroom through technology, and now it’s fully available on mobile.”

The launch event featured a panel discussion by several key partners of Super Bowl 50: San Francisco 49ers COO Al Guido, SAP Chief Design Officer Sam Yen, and NFL VP of Fan Centric Marketing Aidan Lyons. Previewing exclusive plans for SB50 before an intimate group of sports and technology leaders, the event was one in Chat Sports’ nationwide series Minds Behind the Game.
